This is one of those multiple narration stories. Taking place in the time of the KKK the book has drama about this. The protagonist is a little teenage girl who has a pastor for a father. Her childhood is recollected as "history" unfolds. With a Christian premise, I thought I'd love this book. Sadly, it went by too slowly for me, especially in the beginning, and I thought
certain aspects could have been cut out to slim the book. I was even shocked when the Lord's name was taken in vain on the page, even if from the mouth of a heinous character. All in all, the book's not half bad, albeit a bit slow.
